ARTIST STATEMENT
Using unnatural colors in a painting causes a sense of distortion in the work, asking the question of what if this object was altered in another reality? By opening her range of colors and using ones that do not ordinarily fit into a subject in the realistic world, Bai Dalton is able to open her audiences’ eyes as to what could have been.

Most of her artworks vary in their meanings. Sometimes she paints pieces that have a deeper meaning and address stereotypes or current issues, and other times she will paint a piece simply because she is curious as to what it will look like. When she begins working on a piece, she has a general idea of what the final outcome will be, but sometimes the final result is different from what she had initially planned. She does not have one type of idea or theory behind her work. She enjoys testing out varying painting styles when working on a piece; she likes to experiment with different mediums and painting styles, so her individual painting style is constantly changing.
